Caryn Diamond has been making music all her life. At age six she begged her parents for piano lessons, but they made her wait until she was 8! At age 11 she started playing the trumpet in 6th grade band and never turned back. Caryn got a Fine Arts degree in Music from the University of Ky (1994) and a Masters in Trumpet Performance from Illinois State University (1996). Since then, she's taught private trumpet and piano lessons, played in various orchestras and bands, (her favorite group being "Mont Alto Silent Movie Orchestra"), gotten a Montessori certification for ages 3-6, moved to Hawaii for 4 1/2 years with her family where she homeschooled and taught a homeschool band, moved back to Yellow Springs in 2017 where she worked for Children's Montessori Cooperative, and currently for the YS School District as Theater Arts Producer.
She also loves playing the piano for the YS High School Choir and Mills Lawn choir, and helping out young musicians in the schools.
Caryn is married to David Diamond, also a trumpet player. (He is currently the interim trumpet professor at WSU.) They have 3 children, Phillip, Eve, and Noah. Phillip just started college this year, and Eve and Noah are going to McKinney and YS High School. Besides children they also have a dog, 3 chickens, a rabbit, parakeet, and two fish. (They all love music...except the dog sometimes.) Caryn is excited to join the team at Open Air Village, for one of her all time favorite things is sharing music with children.
